The Drumz Student Portal
Online Resources - Calendar - Goals - Feedback
Every Drumz student has access to our dedicated Student Portal, providing a growing library of videos, PDFs and practice resources designed to support learning between lessons.
The Portal gives students access to lesson-specific and tutor-created material that they can return to whenever they practise at home.
PDFs can be viewed online or printed, making it easy to keep useful exercises and practice material alongside the drum kit.
Learn to Read — Not Just Copy
Our notation videos are designed to help students develop sight-reading skills by visualising the music while hearing the drums - the notation is the 'question', the ''sound' is the answer.
This is particularly valuable for students working towards graded examinations, where being able to read and interpret drum notation is an important part of becoming a confident drummer.
Rather than relying on YouTube for an exercise or grade song, students can access Drumz-created resources specifically selected for their learning and level. This is especially useful for younger drummers, as it avoids the pitfalls of social media, inaccurate content and distracting advertising.
As students progress, the technical demands on skill increase too. Richard creates additional hand and foot technique videos for the Student Portal to help students understand and develop the skills required at higher levels.
These resources cover areas such as weak hand development, accenting/Moeller technique, hand/foot speed and improvisational skills for Grades and to develop individual style and vocabulary.
This gives students the opportunity to study a technique or exercise at their own pace and revisit it whenever they need to.
Taks the Lesrning Home
The Student Portal is an extension of the lesson — giving students the right resources, in the right place, at the right time.
It helps students practise more effectively, reinforces what is taught in lessons and gives them a structured library of material they can use throughout their development on the kit.
The Drumz Portal also has a Calendar, so lesson dates/locations can be checked online and student goals/feedback for the term can be found by clicking on the first/last lesson date of each term.
